There is growing evidence on the impact of microinsurance for low-income households. New evidence shows that microinsurance protects clients. The insured are able to deal with shocks at lower costs and by using less stressful coping mechanisms. Evidence also shows the production benefits of microinsurance. Small-scale farmers and microentrepreneurs take more risk and invest more in their businesses when they know they are protected.
