The Facility organizes a number of activities to further promote the lessons being learned through our innovation projects and research activities. These activities range from highly interactive face-to-face events to virtual sharing via webinars. Click on the type of knowledge sharing event below to know more about our activities.
Every year, we bring together our grantees, research partners, consulting and capacity building partners, registered consultants, and professional development candidates for networking, experience exchange, and sharing of lessons. From our first Partner Innovation Forum in 2008 in Cartagena to date, we have witnessed the evolution of experiences and practices in microinsurance. In these partner forums, we draw good practices and discuss lessons and challenges in microinsurance using innovative approaches.
In May 2011, the Facility launched its webinar series, which is the first of its kind in the microinsurance sector. The webinar provides a venue for presentation and discussion of key topics in microinsurance. With more than 400 registered participants coming from more than 70 countries per event, the webinar enables the Facility to reach out to practitioners, academics, enablers and other interested stakeholders around the world for real time knowledge sharing and interaction.
The beginnings of the Peer Learning Group (PLG) can be traced back to November 2011 when the Facility brought together about a dozen partner organizations implementing innovative microinsurance projects around the world. The primary objective of the PLG is to provide a platform for microinsurance leaders to share lessons learned and troubleshoot challenges around a specific microinsurance topic. Annually, partner organizations of the PLG come together for a peer exchange visit, an experiential learning exercise where visiting members are exposed to the operations of a host organization.
